Don Reasons plays a medley of historic hymns of the faith. This is the beautiful Rodgers 925 Oxford concert organ, the last big analog before Rodgers went digital. This performance was for The Dallas Organ Society, the 54 year old home organ club formerly known as the Hammond Organ Society. Later in the concert we used a drum machine with a Bose L1 PAS system. Great Bose sound!

Dallas Movie: Annual Dallas Sacred Harp Singing (2008)
Tags
Singers from throughout Texas and from several other states gathered on Nov. 8 for the annual all-day Sacred Harp singing in Dallas. The shape-note songsters sang at Highland Park Presbyterian Church. The songs on the video (from The Sacred Harp, 1991 Edition) are "Sardis" from page 460 and "Bridgewater" from page 276. A traditional "dinner on the grounds" was served and many acquaintances among singers were renewed, much in the manner of a family reunion. The singing takes place every year on the Saturday before the second Sunday of November. Dallas area shape-noters also sing once a month, for two hours, at the same church. Visitors welcomed. No period then our joys shall know Secure from evry mortal foe; No sickness there, no want or pain, Shall eer disturb our rest again, When with Immanuel we reign, Forever blest. -- The words for "Bridgewater" -- From all that dwell below the skies, Let the Redeemers praise arise: Let the Redeemers name be sung Through evry land by evry tongue.
