Next year 3 of Brisbane's TV stations will turn 50 !! QTQ 9, BTQ 7 and ABQ 2. But as with everything it's not the first time they've celebrated a milestone. Back in August 1989, QTQ Channel 9 celebrated its 30th birthday with a one hour special. Many highlights and lots of classic clips from the archives. From Day 1 QTQ has led the way with News. As you'll see there was the visit of Princess Alexandria, after which the Hospital was named,to the 1974 Brisbane floods to the controversial demise of the Bjelke Peterson Government. From Don Secombe to Bruce Paige, the faces may have changed but the committment to Brisbane and Queensland has remained the same. QTQ Channel 9 FIRST went to air on Sunday August 16, 1959.
